Capacity Enhancement Workshop on Public Transportation Successfully Concluded in Chitwan

The Capacity Enhancement Workshop on Public Transportation, coordinated by the Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal), concluded successfully on 22nd August 2025 at the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall with the active participation of approximately 70 stakeholders.

The program began with presentations by Mr. Subas Bhattarai, Coordinator of Projects and Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Kiran Dhital, Administration and Mobility Manager at NASA Nepal. They presented the findings of a detailed public transportation study conducted in the Bharatpur Metropolitan City area, and collected feedback and recommendations from participants.

Similarly, Inspector Gayatri Raj Sharma from the District Traffic Police Office, Chitwan, presented a technical paper on traffic rules, regulations, and the current status of public transportation in the district.

The workshop saw the participation of representatives from the District Traffic Police Office, various public transport committees, Ratnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bagmati Province Automobiles Association, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, as well as entrepreneurs, transport operators, drivers, assistants, youth, and students.

 

 

 

Representatives and officials from public transport committees—including Mitraraj KC, Chini Bahadur Bohora, Krishna Prasad Lamsal, Krishna Prasad Khanal, and others—highlighted the existing challenges, operational issues, and potential areas for improvement within Chitwan’s public transportation system. They urged the concerned government agencies to address these issues with priority.

Addressing the program, Mr. Shankar Giri, President of Ratnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that the implementation of a smart public transportation system requires strong coordination and collaboration among all stakeholders.

Concluding the workshop, Mr. Chiranjeevi Subedi, Senior Vice President of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving public transportation in the district.
Program Coordinator Mr. Subas Bhattarai stated that NASA Nepal will formally submit the recommendations and demands collected during the workshop to the relevant government authorities and will continue to monitor progress toward their implementation.
